Today is Ash Wednesday…
…the first day of the Lenten season…
…the first step on a journey through death into life…
…the beginning of the end for sin, brokenness, and shame.
Today, many of us will receive the imposition of ashes–a sign of our frailty and trespasses, but also a sign of repentance and return from our self-imposed exile.
Today, we grieve all the ways we’ve gone off track, and celebrate the God who, in kindness and love, gently calls us back.
Today may we remember that we are dust, and to dust we shall return.
