I love the letter of 1 John, probably because of how the writer describes who God is. Notice the following verse:
…we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. [1 John 4v16, TNIV]
God is love. It’s not just that God is a loving God. It’s that he actually is love. Think about this, at the heart of the universe there is Love. Love created, cares for, and desires a relationship with the whole world. I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard God described in lots of ways–some are even frightening!–but to know that God is love, that he loves us, is such a gift!
