I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart!

Yesterday at MCC we spent some time reflecting on joy.

Joy is the opposite of fear.

Fear holds back and worries about what others think.

Fear spends all of its time worrying about the unknowns, the “what ifs.”

Joy is about celebrating, about something so good and true that you can’t help but let go.

Joy is about “what is.”

Christmas is about God being with us. What is, is pretty amazing.

The angels told the shepherds to “…not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”

Joy frees us from fear!

So, what do you have to be joyful about today?

  1. It’s been tough for my wife and I to find joy for the last few years. I wish someone had told me that I would go through seasons where I would need to search for joy to find it. But in the past 6 months, joy has overwhelmed who we are. Through our occupations, our family (a new one on the way) our home, and our friends. We have become so much more aware of who He is. Is it because we searched for him for so long? Perhaps. Or maybe we’ve learned to rely on His joy when we had no reason. That’s the idea of Christmas, right? To know that a dirty baby born to unmarried parents will revolutionize my life in every way. That’s joy.
