There are somethings that we can count on regardless of the state of our economy.
In his letter to the Philippians, Paul says to them in chapter 4:
19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. [TNIV]
For Paul this was a done deal. I can trust God to meet my needs.
But what about my wants?
I loved the movie “A Christmas Story” when I was a kid. The boy in the movie wanted a “Red Rider” BB gun, and he was not shy about it. He told anyone who would listen, but was met every time with the same response. “You’ll shoot your eye out.”
Sometimes God says “no” to my wants because he knows that I’ll shoot my eye out, that giving me what I want won’t be good for me.
But God will meet my needs. And yours too.
As you read this, why not take a moment and share all your worries, fears, and needs with your Heavenly Father. Take a moment and surrender them to him. Ask him to help you trust him for provision, security, happiness…everything you need in this life.
